a life torn

A Blessing for Those Who Are Weak

In a world bent on being strong, we often miss the grace of living within the beauty and power of weakness. May tonight’s blessing find all who are feeling the weight of their weakness and remind them that they are valued and beloved by the God of the universe.

Blessed are those who are weak.

Those who shuffle while the world sprints. Those who rest when others play. Those who slow up when people around them hurry up.

For they show us the wisdom of a measured life.

Blessed are those who must bend to the beat of a broken body.

Those who fill pill boxes beside sippy cups. Those who see doctors more than their besties. Those who mother babies from their bedsides.

For they show us a life torn does not mean a life unlived.

Blessed are those waiting for test results like it’s 2020.

Those who held their breath long before COVID-19. Those who know how to press forward even in uncertainty. Those who know the whir of scans as much as their own heartbeats.

For they show us tenacity is not only shown on marathon routes or sports fields.

Blessed are those who tout silver hair and a slower gait.

Those whose friend circles are waning. Those who hold the secret of the amazing lives they lived so well. Those who tear up at the sight of babies at the grocery store or marvel at all we see as humdrum.

For they show us a life lived is not weakness but strength incarnate.

Yes, blessed are those who the world might overlook.

In the rushing. In the madness. In the hustle and bustle of expectation.

For they show us the way to His power perfected.

“For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:10
