an eternity of hands raised

A Blessing for Those Who Fight A Battle Unseen

Every September, we raise awareness for suicide prevention and the brave folks who struggle with suicidal ideation. It just so happens I love some of these quiet warriors. So tonight’s blessing honors them and the gift they are to my heart.

Blessed are those who know the pressing of a beautiful mind.

For they reveal color in a world bent toward dark and gray.

Blessed are those who fight battles that rage invisible.

For they show us the courage it takes to face something only He sees.

Blessed are those who pour out their pain in a day’s offering.

For they show us the strength of surrender most holy.

Blessed are those who offer no shame to a hand barely raised.

For they offer the grace of One who sees an eternity of hands raised and hearts broken.

Blessed are those who stand in the gap of another warrior’s pain.

For they show us the beauty of a love without condition or memory.

Yes, blessed are those who scrape breath by breath toward Jesus.

For they reveal the truth of what it means to hold a Father’s heart.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.

Psalm 63:1
