A Blessing of Thanksgiving

All too often thanksgiving feels at odds with our circumstances. But as we head into tomorrow, may this blessing grant you the grace of knowing gratitude can still be ours even when life hurts.

Father, may we long to know you even in the hard things.

May our lives still speak of your indelible goodness. May our voices yet raise only to sing of your love. And may our hearts live always within the grace of all you’ve given us.

Father, may we offer you praise even in our pain.

May we surrender comfort for the sake of eternity. May we find peace as we remember your faithfulness in all our yesterdays. And may we not be so caught up in the want of tomorrow we forget the abundance of today.

Father, may we be ever mindful of the warriors you need in us.

May we be bold even in our humility. May we be brave even in our fear. And when we have the choice to choose the world or eternity, may we have the courage to choose you.

You, who embody mercy and joy and hope.

You, who originate peace and love and strength.

You, who found us, and we, who so desperately need you.

Forever and ever, amen.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
